It is not always intuitive to generate a correct barcode. Many commonly used symbologies, such as Code128, UPC-A, EAN-13 and so on require check digits and complicated encoding schemas are used. As a result, you can not just type your number and format with our fonts to get a barcode. You must generate a special format string called barcode string and format the barcode string with our font in order to get a correct barcode. The barcode string generation varies from symbology to symbology. To assist our customers generate barcode string, we provide a GUI program called Fontpal. It also allow you to visually examine the generated barcode and view the different effects when you format it with different fonts. After you are satisfied with your choice, simply copy and paste the barcode string into the application you are going to use the barcode.
Fontpal is included within the installation package of every barcode font product. Fontpal is completely free. The application requires a PC with Windows 95, 98, NT 3.51, NT 4.0, Windows 2000 and XP, or any higher version.
The barcode string generated can be used in any other operating systems, such as UNIX, Macintosh and HP printer with our fonts. Even better, now you can generate barcode online using Morovia Fontpal Web utility.
There is no
standalone installation for Morovia Fontpal; instead, it is
included in every barcode font products installer package. An
icon is placed in the Start - Programs - Morovia. Start the
program. Below we demonstrates creating a barcode for EAN
number 978038530534 with a 5-digit supplement 51500.
From the "Barcode Format" combo box, choose EAN-13. In the "Data to be encoded" edit box, type the 978038530534. In the 2/5 digit supplement edit box, type 51500.
If the data is inputted correctly, Fontpal generates the
converted string after you move the focus from the input edit
box (you can simply press TAB key to let the input lose its
focus). A barcode image is also generated using barcode fonts.
The point size used is 12 which applies to most cases, unless
you want to generate a big barcode in a package box). To the
left there are two groups of options. One allows you to specify
the barcode options, the another one allows you to choose the
barcode height. Note that the underlying text and barcode
height options do not affect the string generated. You must
choose the right font. In our case, the font we want to use
will be "MRV UEBTA" since we chooses the tall size of the
font.
After we are satified with the result, we can now move the
barcode to another application. We only move the barcode
string, not the barcode image. Suppose we are designing the
back cover page for a book in the Adobe Photoshop. We have done
all the work except the bookland barcode. To add the bookland
barcode, we press the
to
copy the barcode string to the clipboard. In Photoshop, create
a text layer, paste the string and format with the font "MRV
UEBTA".
Now we complete the work. You can apply the same tactics to any applications you want to add barcode - Quickbooks, Microsoft Word, QuickTime, AutoCAD....
In cases you need to add barcode dynamically into documents, forms and reports, we provide source doe in a variety of programming languages, such as Visual Basic, ANSI C/C++ and JavaScript. You are free to use them and distribute them as long as you have the appropriate license to our font products.
