Analyzing the Results

The results can be analyzed by viewing the weights and contributions in the brainstorm diagram, in the results graphs and analyzing and the sensitivity of the criteria weights to the results.

In the brainstorm view using the View->Show Weights menu the weights are displayed in the hierarchy view, the brainstorm whiteboard and a pie chart displayed showing the weights at the current level.

Using the Results tab various graphs are displayed and can be interacted with in order to analyze the results. Each of the graphs can be maximized within the tab page or opened into a separate window.

Results Graphs

The ChoiceResults graph shows the perferred alternative according to the ratings and weights established for the criteria. The red bar indicates the winner. During sensitivity analysis this graph will dynamically change to reflect the changes made to the criteria weights during the sensitivity analysis.
The Contributions graph shows the contributions to the results at the selected level in the hiearchy. For example the criterion Qualifications for alternative Bidder A contributed 6.2% to the Bidder A results.
The Criterion Weights graph shows the weight of the criteria at the selected level. For example Lump Sum Costs has a weight of 34% (the most imporrant criteria in this example).
The Criteria Results graph shows the perferred alternative for each criteria at the selected level in the hierarchy. For example for the Qualifications criterion Bidder A and Bidder D are the least perferred follwed by Bidder C and Bidder A is the perferred alternative with respect to the Qualifications criterion.

Analyzing the Sensitivity

There are two graphs that are used to analyze the sensitivity of the criteria weights. Interacting with these graphs by moving the crossover bar in the gradient sensitivity graph or dragging the bar in the sensitivity graph dynamically adjusts the other graphs to show the results.

The Gradient Sensitivity graph shows the sensitivity of the criteria weights to the results. The red vertical line indicates the current criteria and it's weight, and the black vertical line shows the weight the criterion would have to be to change the results.

To analyze the results the redline is dragged with the mouse to change it's weight. As the line is dragged and the weight is changed the results are reflected in the ChoiceResults graph. When the line is "dropped" all of the graphs are updated to show the results.

The Sensitivity Analysis graph shows the weights of the criteria at the selected level in the hierarchy. Each of the bars can be dragged with the mouse to change the weight and distribute the change among the other criteria. As the bar is dragged and the weight is changed the results are reflected in the ChoiceResults graph. When the line is "dropped" all of the graphs are updated to show the results.

Each of the graphs can be interacted with using the right-mouse button displaying a menu allowing you to do various functions with the graph.
